DAY 1

Arrival to Antananarivo
Antananarivo, first step of your journey, is the capital of Madagascar
Welcome at the airport by a representative of Jacaranda. Transfer by car to your hotel, located downtown.
Antananarivo, first step of your journey, is the capital of Madagascar and is worth discovering for its cultural, historic and environmental heritage. This will be your primary introduction to the daily life of the highlands inhabitants.

Drive to Andasibe throughout typical scenery of the High Lands
Breakfast in hotel
Drive to Andasibe throughout typical scenery of the High Lands, with the rich plains of the north of Antananarivo before getting to Angavo mountain cliff. Then the road slopes down through abundant vegetation till Marozevo, the village frontier between two provinces, situated opposite a hydroelectric power plant.
Stop at Marozevo to visit the reptile farm of Peyreiras with several species of endemic butterflies, reptiles, and batrachians.

Visit of the luxurious rainforest of Analamazaotra Special Reserve of Indri (the largest lemur of Madagascar) and the Vakona private reserve
Breakfast
Visit of the luxurious rainforest of Analamazaotra Special Reserve of Indri (the largest lemur of Madagascar) or/and Mantadia National Park. Various species of plants (endemic trees, ferns, orchids, etc) and birds.
Visit to the Private Reserve of Vakona Forest Lodge and take your selfie with the lemurs!

Andasibe – Palmarium Reserve
Drive to Manambato's waterway port. Boat transfer to Akanin’ny nofy on the beautiful Pangalanes Channel.

Drive to Manambato’s waterway port.
From the High Lands to the east coast, you drive across gradually changing landscapes of tropical humid vegetation. Main features: Travelers trees (endemic); Palm trees; Banana trees; red Flamboyant trees; Falafa houses (typical wooden stilt houses)
Main cities on the road: Brickaville, the city of sugar cane plantations
Boat transfer to Akanin’ny nofy on the beautiful Pangalanes Channel.
Arrival to Akanin’ny Nofy island where the reserve of Palmarium is located.
Nocturnal visit in the reserve to spot the aye-aye lemur.

DAY 5

Palmarium Reserve – Tamatave
Visit of the Palmarium Reserve, then boat transfer on the beautiful Pangalanes Channel to the city of Tamatave.
Breakfast in hotel.
In the morning, visit or the private nature reserve with several species of lemurs and a botanical park of 40 ha with orchids, palm trees and other endemic species of plants. The site is located on a 50 ha peninsula by the lake of Ampitabe, 60 km south from Tamatave, accessible only by boat.
After the visit, boat transfer on the beautiful Pangalanes Channel to the city of Tamatave.
This city is the capital of the eastern province of the same name, territory of Betsimisaraka ethnic group. This is also the main trade port of Madagascar.
Arrival in Tamatave. City sightseeing in the afternoon (by car or rickshaw).

You have many options for excursions and visits: cemetery of pirates (history, nice views); exploration of Nato island (île aux nattes) (nature, daily life, ancient light house, nice views); Endemika (small private zoo and botanical garden); whales watching (July, August, September); the mangrove forest of Ampanihy on the east coast (a wonderful natural site); etc.
