DAY 1

Arrival to Antananarivo
Antananarivo, first step of your journey, is the capital of Madagascar
Welcome at the airport by a representative of Jacaranda. Transfer by car to your hotel, located downtown.
Antananarivo, first step of your journey, is the capital of Madagascar and is worth discovering for its cultural, historic and environmental heritage. This will be your primary introduction to the daily life of the highlands inhabitants.

Antananarivo – Antsirabe – Miandrivazo
Drive through panoramic landscapes of Central Madagascar. Visit of traditional aluminium pot workshop in Ambatolampy and the historical cities of Antsirabe and Betafo.
Breakfast in hotel
Drive to Antsirabe through scenery of typical villages among paddy fields and hilly landscapes of the High Lands.
Stop at Ambatolampy to visit a traditional family-run aluminum pots manufacture. Situated in a fertile volcanic area at the altitude of 1600 m above sea level, this town is the highest one in Madagascar.
Arrival in Antsirabe. Being a Spa station city, Antsirabe is also the capital of precious and semi-precious stones and is an industrial centre.Visit of miniature manufacture, embroidery workshop and gemstone cutter lapidary shop.
Continuation to Miandrivazo.
Stopover at Betafo to visit the village. Only 19 km from the city of Antsirabe, Betafo offers a green landscape with rice paddies on terraces. This small town is an excellent insight into rural activities of the High Plateau. The market is so folkloric and the old houses with verandas are colourful and attractive. Continuation to Miandrivazo.

Long drive to Morondava through immense, beutiful and deserted landscapes. If we arrive in time, watch the spectacular sunset on the Baobab Avenue.

If we arrive in time, we will watch the sunset at the Baobab Avenue. Known as “The mother of forest”, the impressive baobab trees lining the unpaved road, offer matchless scenery. The spectacle is phenomenal at sunset

Road to Bekopaka by 4x4 on a track through bush, savannah and baobabs. We can discover the magnificent tombs of the sakalava tribe decorated with erotic wooden carvings on the road.

Bekopaka – Bemaraha “Tsingy” National Park
Two days are dedicated to Bemaraha National park, the otherworldy terrain of Tsingy de Bemaraha on the western side of Madagascar. This Unesco World Heritage Site is home to 11 types of lemur who thrive in the barren area and nearby forests. Today’s excursion: Discovery of the Little Tsingy: canoeing on Manambolo River to visit of the gorges, caves and Vazimba tombs.

Two days are dedicated to Bemaraha National park. The Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park in Madagascar has 2.4 square miles of jagged limestone landscape and forests. This Unesco World Heritage Site is home to 11 types of lemur who thrive in the barren area and nearby forests. Its name, ‘Tsingy’, translates as ‘where one cannot walk barefoot,’ which is apt due to its pointed rock pinnacles. Razor-sharp rocks, tiny precarious rock bridges and 300ft drops – this is the otherworldy terrain of Tsingy de Bemaraha on the western side of Madagascar.
Today’s excursion: Discovery of the Little Tsingy. In the morning: canoeing on Manambolo River to visit of the gorges, caves and Vazimba tombs.
In the afternoon: Andadoany and Ankeligoa Trekking: canyons, lemurs and birds. Picnic lunch included.

Visit of Kirindy Reserve, a jewel of nature with its dry and decidous forest. Return to Morondava by 4WD, relaxing afternoon on the beach.

Visit of Kirindy Reserve. The forest is dry type and deciduous. This jewel of nature contains a multitude of animal and plant species, part of which is endemic to the locality itself. The Kirindy Forest is reputed to be the only place where FOSA (Cryptoprocta ferox), the largest carnivore in Madagascar, can be observed in all tranquility and in its natural habitat.
Back to Morondava
Relax and leisure on the beach by the quiet sea of Mozambique Channel. Many excursions available on the spot.

Visit to the Lemur’s Park, a private reserve of lemurs located 25km from Antananarivo. It is a must if you are into lemurs! The purpose is based on the nature conservation and the park is home to nine species of diurnal and nocturnal lemurs live in a 5-hectare wooded environment of more than 70 plant species of which 40 species are endemic to Madagascar. Most of the lemurs are free-ranging and well habituated, so you’ll see them up close – however, it is strictly forbidden to feed or touch them.
